Hi, I’m Zuri—and I’m a gentle, sensitive girl learning that the world is a safe and loving place.
I’m a calm, low-key dog who enjoys a quiet environment and a predictable routine. I do well spending time at home on my own during the day and am usually found relaxing on a cozy bed or nearby where my person is. I’m very content just being close, quietly keeping you company.
I can be a little shy at first, especially with new people or sudden movements, but if you give me space and let me come to you, I warm up quite quickly. Once I trust you, I absolutely love affection and will happily soak up all the pets and attention you have to give. I don’t have an aggressive bone in my body—if I feel unsure, I simply move away or freeze.
One of my cutest quirks is my happy dance—I bounce, bow, and scoot around when I’m excited, especially at mealtimes or when heading outside. I’m still learning how to play with toys, but I do enjoy chewing on bones and playing chase in the yard. Most of the time, though, I’m perfectly happy just relaxing.
I currently live with another dog and a senior cat, and I do well with both. I get along well with other dogs and would likely benefit from a confident canine companion to help me continue building confidence. I can be a bit sensitive to loud noises or unexpected situations, so I’d do best in a calm, patient home that understands I may need a little extra time to feel safe.
A home with a yard is a must for me as I continue learning new skills. With kindness and understanding, I will reward you with so much love and quiet companionship.
Zuri came to hart from our community of focus and is up to date on her DACPP, Bordatella, and Rabies vaccinations. Zuri is spayed and microchipped.
A big thank you to Ozubko Realty for sponsoring our vaccinations.
Zuri is a friendly, curious dog who is continuing to build confidence in new relationships and experiences. She enjoys being near people, but prefers to approach on her own terms rather than seeking immediate interaction. Zuri has adjusted well to life in a home and is making progress with house training. She is still getting comfortable with handling around the harness and leash and has not yet started leash walking. Zuri will thrive with a patient family who can provide regular routines, gentle guidance, and positive reinforcement as she continues to gain confidence.
