Hi, I’m Ernie—your future best friend and professional cuddle bug! I’m an energetic, curious, playful guy with a goofy smile and a big teddy-bear heart. I absolutely love being around people, whether we’re playing tug or fetch, soaking up sunshine together, or just relaxing on the couch while I nuzzle into your lap. I’ve got the cutest sleeping poses (so I’m told!) and I get hilariously proud of myself after going potty—what can I say, I like to celebrate the little wins.

I enjoy toys of all kinds, especially balls for fetch and big tug toys. On chilly days, a stuffed Kong keeps me busy and happy for ages. When it’s time to relax, I’m a calm boy who naps on my bed, the carpet, or right beside you. I know some basic commands like sit, down, and place, and I’m working hard on the rest—treats really help me focus!

I’m friendly and curious with new people, and I’ve been a total gentleman when meeting visitors. I do best with medium or large dog friends, since I sometimes forget how big I am with the littles. I’m still learning to be alone and don’t love vacuums or baths, but I’m trying my best every day.

My perfect home would have a fenced yard to play in and a family who doesn’t mind me sleeping nearby—I just like knowing my people are close. If you’re looking for a loving, goofy, loyal companion who will fill your home with smiles and snuggles, I might be your guy. Let’s start our forever adventure together! 

Ernie came to hart from a rescue partner just outside of Edmonton. Ernie presented with dental issues but upon vet assessment, dental intervention was not recommended. Vet expects that his retained baby tooth will resolve itself. It was recommended that he undergo dental x-rays in 6 months. Ernie is up to date on DACPP, Bordatella and Rabies vaccinations. Ernie is microchipped and neutered.

Ernie is a social, affectionate young dog who thrives on connection and engagement with his people. He is playful, gentle, and settles well. Ernie enjoys enrichment and toys. He is continuing to build confidence and manners. He was quick to learn house training and is starting to learn leash skills. With regular routines and patient guidance, Ernie will thrive as a devoted family companion.
