Hi, I’m Yara!
I’m a gentle, affectionate girl with a heart that just wants to be close to my people. Once I feel safe with you, I’m full of love, wiggles, kisses, and cuddles. I bond deeply with my humans—when I love you, I love you big! I’m happiest when I can lie beside you, follow you from room to room, or curl right up on top of you for snuggles.
I can be a little anxious when meeting new people or entering new places, but if my trusted humans are with me, I warm up with some time and patience. Around the house, I’m calm and quiet as long as I can see my people. Being alone is hard for me right now—I cry and pace when I’m left by myself—but I’m working with a whole team to help me feel more confident and relaxed. I’m making progress, and I hope my forever family will continue helping me on this journey.
I love going for walks, sniffing everything along the way, and saying a polite hello to other dogs. I walk nicely on leash and only get a bit excited when I spot a bunny or squirrel. At home, I enjoy soft, squeaky toys—especially my Costco card and pizza slice—and I get super excited when someone says “outside!”
I’m good in the car and I know a few basics like sit, shake a paw, and my recall is pretty solid. I’m also learning that my dog bed is a safe, cozy place.
I’m looking for a home where someone is around most of the time and can give me the comfort and reassurance I need. If you’re patient, loving, and want a loyal shadow by your side, I just might be your girl.
Yara was surrendered to hart due to no fault of her own. Yara is currently trialing medications to ease her anxiety which is still a work in progress. Yara is up to date on her standard antiparasitics, vaccinations (DACPP, Bordatella, Rabies), is microchipped and spayed.
A big thank you to Ozubko Realty for sponsoring our vaccinations.
Yara is a gentle, affectionate dog who struggles with separation-related distress. She bonds closely and settles when her trusted people are nearby, but panics when left alone or unable to access them. With support, she approaches new people and environments cautiously but optimistically. Yara will thrive in a home where someone is around often and can help her build confidence and a sense of safety at her own pace. Her adoption process will be gradual so she has time to form a secure relationship before transitioning.
