Hi, I’m Abby! I’m a happy-go-lucky, bubbly girl with a big heart and a playful spirit. I absolutely love life, and I show it by bringing joy everywhere I go. I get along with dogs, cats, and people—I just love everyone I meet! My tail wags, my body wiggles, and I’m always ready to play.

I’ve been told I have quite the animated personality. I like to lounge in the funniest positions, and I can make my people laugh with all my goofy quirks. I especially love tug of war, roughhousing, and sniffing—seriously, sniffing is my favorite hobby! Walks are the best because I get to stop and explore every smell along the way. Dog parks are also one of my happy places.

At home, I love being near my people. When it’s time to settle, I’ll curl up beside you or head off to bed when I’m ready to snooze for the night. I’m smart and know lots of cues like sit, stay, leave it, heel, and even recall (though I admit popcorn is the magic word that really gets me running back to you!).

I’m still working on some things, like my bathroom habits when routines change. I’m an emotional girl, and I feel things deeply—so I do best in a home that’s calm, structured, and consistent. I thrive on routine, and I even remind my people if they forget a step in my bedtime ritual! With patience, love, and consistency, I’ll be your loyal companion.

My ideal home is one that understands me: someone who will give me daily walks, include me in family life, and keep me on a predictable schedule. Another friendly dog would be a bonus, and I’ll always reward you with love, laughter, and my playful, bubbly energy.

Could I be your new best friend?

Abby has had a long rehabilitation journey with hart and we are so excited that she is finally cleared for adoption again. Dogs like Abby are amazing at how they can manage pain. When she came into care, it was obvious that she had sustained an injury to her back end, however she was scooting around as quickly as any other dog. It turns out that she had an old and severe fracture to the top of her left femur. The vet recommended a FHO. A FHO is the removal of the ‘ball’ part of the ball-and-socket that makes up the hip joint. Once the femoral head and neck are removed, the surrounding muscles and developing scar tissue work to support the area and act as a false joint; therefore, it is important that she always maintains a healthy weight. Just like humans, dogs can experience anxiety too. Abby is prescribed Fluoxatine to help with anxiety induced behaviours which has improved her confidence dramatically. It is important to note that Abby is suspected to have seasonal allergies during allergy months that are managed with Cytopoint once a month and is reported to have the occasional pee accident at the door. Abby is up to date with DACPP, Bordatella, and Rabies vaccinations. Abby is spayed and microchipped.

Abby is a bubbly, playful dog who loves people, cats, and other dogs. She’s working on building confidence with routine changes and can have occasional accidents when things feel unfamiliar, so a structured home and consistent routine will help her shine. Abby will thrive with someone who wants to partner with her, understand her emotions, and build a strong bond together.
