Upsi is one of Uma’s puppies who were found living in an abandoned bus during the cold snap last December. HART volunteers were able to rescue this family just days after the puppies’ birth. While they were all cold and hungry at the time, no major health concerns were noted.
In February, Upsi and his littermates became lethargic and had diarrhea. Parvo was highly suspected and confirmed with a SNAP test upon arrival at one of our veterinary partners. Parvovirus is a particularly deadly disease in young puppies, causing gastrointestinal tract damage and dehydration. Fortunately, hart was able to provide the supportive treatments that Upsi needed – IV fluids, antibiotics, pain medication and anti-emetics. Upsi is recovering well.
He will be up to date on all his vaccinations, neutered, and microchipped.
Upsi is a typical puppy and will require a lot of patience and training! His foster home has noticed that he is one of the most playful and energetic puppies of the litter, but also is a super cuddle bug when it’s time to relax. He is a social guy and craving one on one time with people. He cannot wait to meet his furever family!
