Unicorn is one of Uma’s puppies that were found living in an abandoned bus during the cold snap last December.  HART volunteers were able to rescue this little family just days after the puppies’ birth.  While they were all quite cold and hungry at the time, no major health concerns were noted.

In February,  Unicorn and her littermates became lethargic and had diarrhea. Parvo was highly suspected and confirmed with a SNAP test upon arrival at one of our veterinary partners. Parvovirus is a particularly deadly disease in young puppies, causing gastrointestinal tract damage and dehydration. Fortunately, hart was able to provide the supportive treatments that Unicorn needed – IV fluids, antibiotics, pain medication and anti-emetics.  Unicorn is recovering well.

She will be up to date on her vaccinations, spayed, and microchipped.

Unicorn is a typical puppy and her adopter will need to have a lot of patience and time to dedicate to her training, as with all puppies.  Her foster home has noticed that Unicorn is the explorer of the group!  She was the first one to open her eyes, and can frequently be found wandering around, boldly going where none of her littermates have gone before.  Laundry room, carpet, kennel… check!…  she’s been there, done that!!
