Hey there! I’m Sakura, but you can call me Saki.
I’m a bright, sensitive girl who feels happiest in a calm, predictable home. I do best in a quiet space with few visitors and a steady routine, where I can relax and enjoy time with the people I trust. I’m most comfortable with gentle personalities and I enjoy the company of women best. I love early morning walks when the world is still quiet, and playing with my herding ball is my absolute favorite way to have fun. Once I trust you, I’m affectionate, loyal, and deeply devoted. I’m looking for someone patient and understanding who values my need for security and will celebrate the loving companion I become once I feel safe.
Sakura is not a typical hart dog but we are happy that we can help her find her furever home. While Sakura has no physical issues, she was diagnosed with severe generalized anxiety disorder and OCD. This has necessitated some pharmaceutical support under the guidance of her vet and with her behavior team. As Sakura does not yet travel well, any veterinary work that has been done (vaccines etc) has been to her door versus in clinic. We know that Sakura’s perfect family is out there and when they are ready, she will be too by being up to date on DACPP, Bordatella, Rabies and being spayed and microchipped.
A big thank you to Ozubko Realty for sponsoring our vaccinations.
Saki is a smart girl who knows her basic cues. Saki has anxiety and OCD behaviours (tail spinning) which can be triggered when overstimulated (new people in house and new environments). In her foster home, she is learning new ways respond to stress and anxiety. This includes supervised play, physical activity and new cues like touch and turn. Saki’s is house trained and has been in the crate but does not use it.
Her adoption process will be slower to allow appropriate fit and support to ensure a successful transition.
