Lady is a calm, affectionate girl who loves being close to her people and soaking up attention wherever she can get it. She enjoys toys, bones, relaxing on the deck, and cozying up upside down with a toy in her mouth. Her tail is almost always wagging, and she greets life with a gentle, happy energy. She’s currently building confidence around seeing other dogs while out and about.
Lady came to hart with a face full of porcupine quills and a very significant infection. She underwent surgery to remove the visible quills and has since gone in for 2 more surgical procedures to extract more quills. Because of the advanced state of her infection upon arrival, Lady has also gone through multiple rounds of antibiotics and drains for abscesses. It has been quite the process for Lady to heal but the whole time she kept showing us signs of the happy dog that she is. Adoptive parents for Lady need to be aware that while she has undergone surgeries for the removal of quills, they can continue to migrate and erupt for up to a year. Lady is up to date on DACPP, Bordatella, Rabies and is spayed and microchipped.
A big thank you to Ozubko Realty for sponsoring our vaccinations.
Lady can become vocal and reactive when she sees or hears unfamiliar dogs, especially at closer distances or in unexpected situations. She does best with space from other dogs and quieter walking environments where she can stay focused and relaxed. Sudden loud noises, such as fireworks, can startle her, and she has a history of escaping yards when distressed or overstimulated, so a secure fence and careful management will be important. With consistency and thoughtful handling, she has already started showing progress around dogs at a distance.
