Hi, I’m Bagheera!  People say that I am such a sweet boy, and I sure do love my hoomans!  I also love to play with other dogs.  I am a pretty laid back guy, but I do get so excited for treats!  But I am a patient boy and will dance around while shifting my feet side to side in anticipation.  My foster mom says she loves how my lips get stuck on my teeth, and that it makes me look so cute!  I can’t help it, but maybe I need some chapstick or something?  I think I would fit in almost anywhere, but I might like to have some kids to play with and follow around.   Would you like to adopt me?  I am ready and waiting to find my furever family!

– Love, Bagheera

Bagheera come to hart from our community of focus with an obvious injury to his back leg. He had a badly fractured femur and our veterinary partners performed an FHA (femoral head osteotomy), which is a the surgical removal of the head and neck of the femur. The ‘ball’ part of the hip joint is removed and the surrounding muscles and developing scar tissue work to support the area, and act as a false joint. This means that when the limb is moved, the forces are transferred to the pelvis rather than the leg itself. Most dogs return to close to normal activity. Bagheera is medically cleared based on how he is moving and progressing through his rehabilitation. Adoptive parents need to be willing to learn some stretches that will further assist Bagheera with his mobility and there is the possibility that he’ll need some chiropractic or massage adjustments and supports in future. Bagheera is up to date on DACPP, Bordatella, Rabies and is neutered and microchipped.

I am crate trained, house trained and working on my leash skills.  I know all my basic commands.

No behaviour concerns
